I knew they were going to change some of the designs (you sorta have too, classic Megatron was a size morphing gun, which was a bit silly) and I must say I'm pretty happy with this.
I thought they would either go this route, or do something similar to the animated feature film vis a vis Galvatron, who is very very cool.
The other big change is that Bumblebee will probably be a yellow 2006 Camaro now, not too sure if I'm okay with that, especially since the new VW Beetle is contemporary looking and would be suitable.
I don't like this Megatron. While I agree the classic 80's gun Megatron was a bit silly wasn't half the point of transformers that they changed into everyday vehicles/objects. Thus the "Robots in Disguise". This new Megatron may be transforming but he isn't really disguising himself at all.
This new movie mythology is going to have most/all of the decepticons looking like alien invasion things, and the autobots looking like regular objects/vehicles.
The decepticons just get to show up and blow shit up. When you have ultimate cosmic power and only the pathetic autobot fools stand in your way, why bother hiding? Blast the worthless autogerms to scrap!

You know, ater some reflection I can't help but notice how manga-esque it is. Very similar to a character know as the Guyver.
Hmmmmm...
Speaking of Manga-esque LordJim, you should be all about getting in on this new Jovian Chronicles game I'm running this fall.
Shades of Robotech, with more grit and a beautifully detailed background in our arms-reach future solar system.
The character system is Brilliant!
The Companion introduces Perks & Flaws to elaborate on character backgrounds, making for that much more coolness :)
