I know things are tough for our cousins down south, but I am saddened to see that there are no more "experts" in any field that are willing to step up. Thank god we have people that love the US enough to come under the fire of the US congress and answer those hard hitting questions.
Long Live American Politics, for without it we would have anything to scoff at.

I don't know if I'd necessarily put this down as a bad thing. I feel like Jon Stewart and the fictional version of Stephen Colbert have become the best place to find any semblance of sanity in the US political commentary landscape.
Since the right and left have become so radicalized the only way to have a balanced view is to sit in the middle and ridicule each of the extremist camps equally. The far right and the far left have become parodies of themselves.
Six years ago, if asked, I would have said that I was a staunch believer that only the Democrats could fix our wayward neighbors. And while I think Obama has tried his best to fix a few problems, he has certainly waffled when it most mattered and added some new problems (mostly economic) of his own governments creation.
Today, if asked which 'side' can fix America, I can honestly tell you that neither can. It is broken beyond repair and headed for darker times:
In literacy, for example, the United States has the highest percentage of secondary school graduates who ranked below an international literacy standard.
The only place where a person can find some intelligent discussion, impartial critique, on the state of decay is ironically on the comedy networks. Our last bastions of common sense - people who will call a spade a spade and refuse to be controlled by colors/labels like 'blue' and 'red' - are the comedians who courageously standup to defend 'the rest of us'.
Who? I said 'the rest of us' those people who live in the greater North America or vanishing US political center that have no say in what the arrogant selfish hegemony-building homophobic violent reactionary "too big to fail" hypocritical US Government is or does but are non-the-less completely and utterly affected by it.
If we have to march every single puppet from Puppets Who Kill up to Washington to get anything changed then so be it.
