Local Page Updates, Games

Posted by Unknown On 2011-09-25 5 comments

Does anybody use a good iPhone / online tracking tool for keeping track of what videogames they've got, beaten, given up on, lent out, wrapped, sold, beat a second time, etc...?

Also, these pages have been recently updated:

PSThreexperience
RRoD Survivors

Anybody out there got games they are willing to lend/trade?  I've still got a couple of Screwloose's games to return to him and I think a few people still have a game or two of mine.  I'm happy to trade/lend PS3 or XBox360 games.

Peace!

Dominion: Cornucopia

I'm going to give this new expansion two thumbs up. What's great about this expansion is the focus on carrying a wide array of cards in your hand instead of just piling into whichever supply decks are perceived to be the best in descending order.  Games focusing on this expansion are almost always ended by purchase of the last province.

For people who have all things Dominion, we recommend the following deck that was loads of fun and wealth heavy.  We all managed pretty good scores even with the Jester bringing Curse cards into play.  We built this deck using Cornucopia, Intrigue and Prosperity (because Intrigue has all the base cards you don't need the original Dominion for this build).

Here is our recommended deck:

Treasure and Victory

Copper, Silver, Gold and Platinum (Prosperity)
Estate, Duchy, Province

Supply Piles
Secret Chamber (Intrigue)
Hamlet (Cornucopia)
Menagerie (Cornucopia)
Tournament and the 5 Prize cards (Cornucopia)
Horse Traders (Cornucopia)
Jester (Cornucopia)
Harvest (Cornucopia)
Grand Market (Prosperity)
Harem (Intrigue)
Hoard (Prosperity)

Regarding Civilization and Marriage

Loved the Civ review. It really made me think about running out and grabbing it. It also made me think about a piece of writing I did in 2001. It's based on many conversations on the subject of gaming which may or may not have occurred ;) Names of people and games have been omitted to protect the innocent. At the time, I didn't really have an audience that I thought would be interested in it. Perhaps I still don't. Things have changed quite a bit in the last 10 years. I know some of you will be able to relate to my ramblings.

Just a few highlights of my gaming credentials: Pong, Intellevision, Coleco, Arcades, ADAM, Amiga (500, 1200, 4000, RIP), handhelds, PC, MAME, Palm, Clie, Playstations, Cell-phone, Mac, Desktops, Laptops, Mini, iPhone... Of course, that's just the shit I've owned or obsessed over. I had friends with coco, Atari, AppleII, Sega, Nintendo, X-box... ad infinitum.

The above list is to add weight to the following;
Nothing compares to Civ!

Keep fighting the good fight.

Gears of Confetti

Ok, to start, I started playing 360 on a friends box. I had an account and played all his games. Hell, I even bought a few just so I could play them on his machine. Then the dreaded day arrived. University ended and I had money that I could actually spend. Crazy, I know.

So a 360 elite with headset and 250 G hard drive came my way. A memory unit purchased to transfer my existing account from my friends box to my shiny new one. And in all my blessed new-found glory I plugged in to play Gears. I am now ready to rehash all that.

Oh Gears, how you've kept me through the years. Yes it rhymes. Deal with it. Screw poetry it's time to chainsaw things. Kyro's new to the Xbox exclusives and I plan on walking him through the magic of Dom and Marcus. Woe be to everyone not us.

Mastermind

My look back at older games yesterday got me in a nostalgic mood and I happened to remember the first "board game" I ever played (by choice that is, snakes and ladders doesn't count). There were times that I wondered where all the gaming love began. Now I know it all stemmed from Mastermind.

As Seanbaby once said, "Romance is like playing Mastermind except the girl never tells you which pegs you got right."

Oh, and sidenote, "Everything unrelated to Elephants is irrelephant" is admittedly the coolest thing I've seen on a t-shirt in a long time. Too bad it will get overused and old while I blissfully ignore the fact that the joke is related incestuously to a pun. Still have to make my Yeshua t-shirt....

100 Percenting as you read this.

The Day After Yesterday

Well, it's another Christmas in the books and I have to say that it was a great one. theKid is now full time cellular (unlimited texting, 300 minutes) and we are looking at ditching our landline as of Jan 1st. This means that you will have to call CPMDrama, Kyro or theKid directly on our cells. I think this is a good thing anyway, since our landline has been a call center magnet ever since putting the number on the Canadian DNC List. If you need any of our numbers, please email me and I'll furnish you with all of them.

With the Christmas money that came our way, CPMDrama was able to find us a good camera today, so we've joined the digital camera revolution. I think this means that I'll be twitpic'ing or flikr'ing or whatever soon. I haven't decided if that's a good thing or not yet. It certainly DOES mean that I'll have some high quality pictures of my completed 'falcon to post this week.

Other notables: the entire G.I.Joe cartoon box set w. dog tags (the dog tag is actually a USB key that has a schwack of comics on it), and a baseball style jersey that says 'Las Vegas' on it. When I wear the jersey with the dog tags I look like I'm ready to rumble (could be from the haircut though). Also got some fantastic Yves St. Laurent cologne from CPMDrama.

I'm hoping to play some board games tomorrow afternoon and then checkout some movies tomorrow night, or something. I want to hit Dragon's Den on Monday or Tuesday because they are having their big 40% sale on board games and 'Santa' gave us a Gift Certificate. Not sure what's up for NYE yet, I'm supposed to play a quick set with Ruxpin (Psience DJs) from 10pm to 11.
