Raindrop is a standalone player for OS X.
There is a ton of interesting indie music coming from SoundCloud these days and I still highly recommend people check it out. Even if you're not in the mood to produce, the content is worth a peruse. Just my two cents.
Also checkout radioclouds a super neat social-networked way to browse for music.
