Awesome!
Oh yeah, the lumberjack one! And, The Cat Came Back!

Once in a blue moon the Canadian Film Board came out with some real winners. The rest of the time it seemed like all they put out were Andy Warhol's rejects.

In a distantly related topic, CBC's jPod TV show is some of the best TV I've seen produced in Canada. Funny, and worth your time!

I'll try not to come off as a jerk here...

What the hell are you talking about? I'll assume you have not read JPod (in the original Greek, of course). I don't watch much T.V. and have little interest in its comedy offerings, but even so, the pilot stank! They messed with the time-line, the characterizations were off, and (most importantly)the uncomfortable edginess of the novel was absent.

If you tell me it got much better after the 30 minutes I watched, I'll be forced to take your word for it, but it could strain the tender fabric of our relationship :)

...oops ?!?!

Oh, yeah. I like the NFB too.

I also didn't care for the jPod pilot for the same reasons. The subsequent 2 episodes only amplified those concerns.

(if you enjoy Canadian television in general) + (haven't read the novel) = probably will enjoy the show

re: NFB... my fave animation of the era is Oscar nominated short The Selfish Giant. Not an NFB production, but projected on roll up school movie screens all through the 70s.

jPod: I did read and enjoy the book. I don't enjoy Canadian television in general.

Having said that I don't try to compare the book to the show (most comparisons of lit to film/tv versions are bound to piss-off/disappoint), but just enjoy its weird quirkiness.

Too each their own, I guess.

The Lumberjack one is:
"The Log Drivers Waltz"

Imagine my surprise to see this poised synchronistically on the DVD rack at McNally Robinson. It doesn't have The Big Snit, but it has both the Log Driver's Waltz and The Cat Came Back!
