Why Fantasy and Why Now?

Here's a short essay by R. Scott Bakker that I really enjoyed. I also recommend Bakker's Prince of Nothing Trilogy. Bakker is Canadian, so if you enjoy fantasy, support your contryman and buy his books.

I also recommend the Prince of Nothing books - all well regarded strong sellers at McNally.

However, with science fiction and fantasy combined garnering only 6% of popular fiction sales in all formats, and 87% of adults believing in God, it seems like less than 1% of adults even need Bakker's crisis of meaning analysis.
